THE PARAMATERS OF LASER WELDING FOR SHEET METALS

Abstract


The laser welding in comparison to other welding methods of sheet metals, has some advantages such as narrowly heat affected zone,  heating with depth control at desired temperature and welding of different types of metals, etc. If the required parameters for welding of sheet metals are defined well and these are adjusted to optimum values the welding process can be performed successfully. If  the mentioned parameters and their values are selected wrongly, it can cause drilling of metals instead of welding. Since the laser welding process is performed via laser beam moving on the work-piece at constant speed, it can be automated easily.In this study, in order to welding sheet metals using Nd:YAG laser the required parameter and their values have been identified.
